Après avoir lutté pendant des mois pour essayer de sauver son mariage à distance, Casey Jesse Spencer a finalement pu entendre raison lorsque Dawson a font un ultime retour à Chicago pour lui annoncer la nouvelle en personne. Après discussion, Dawson veut continuer d'essayer de faire un enfant, même au risque de sa propre vie. Casey, lui, préfère la voie de l'adoption, plus sûre. The Chicago franchise, like many other prime-time television series, are able to start shooting shortly ahead of the episodes' release dates. With season 9, the show began production in October, while the first episode aired on November 11, 2020.
